The Cold Returns.
I hate cold weather. Hate it. Grew up in the sticks and skied every single day of my teen life (or so it seemed). We'd load up my lil' rusty 4 door '81 Subaru wagon w/ our gear and skis every morning, then head to the slopes as soon as school ended. Good time. No boards back then, man. We laughed at the snowboarders...although that's all I will do now IF I get an urge to hit the slopes. A lot of good memories and a ton of fun.
I think I burned out on skiing. Is that possible? The cold gets to my older body. As I said, I loathe it. I'm a hard core golfer now, geez, I need warm weather! Anytime I end up at Seven Springs now, it's only for the bars and beer. Is that wrong? Maybe my "skiing priorites" have just changed...
BUT, the Bratz girl wants to go and my dad insists she start skiing now, so I guess I need to layer up once this year. Beer and the 'goggle are out of the question for that day, so it looks like I'll be skiing this year after all. Now that I've made that decision, there's NO snow. Man, can't win.

4 Loooong Days...
Man-o-man...what an insane week! The 4 days seemed like a million. At one point yesterday, it was either me or my monitor going out the 2nd floor window! I was ready to blow somethin' up like the Team America boys. But after some deep breathing and much Miller-Lite after the Bratz girl went to bed, I managed. Soooooo glad this week is done.
Anyhow, not sure where to start w/ Cowher gone, lack of winter for skiing, sinus infections (ugh), New Year celebrations and more.
So I won't.
Enjoy the weekend!

In the spirit...Top 10 events in 2006
Well, being slow at work and in the spirit of other blogs out there, I thought about the 10 best things that happened in my world this year. In no special order ('cause they're all special, damn it):
1. Well, this was tops...going to the Super Bowl and watching a sweet-ass victory! I still feel faint effects from the parties.
2. My daughter learning to write all her ABC's...it's pretty cool to watch a child learn and I'm a proud daddy.
3. Shooting a 74 at Oakmont County Club. If you ain't a golfer, you wouldn't understand.
4. Going to the O.C. and Laguna Beach for a sweet ass wedding w/ the wife and daughter. There for a week, Disney was included and my daughter still thinks she's married to her cousin since they were in the wedding as ring bearer and flower girl. I just let her go w/ it...ha.
5. Water skiing for the first time in ages and getting up on the skis on the first try. A proud moment, especially after a few Miller-Lites.
6. Scoring a season ticket package w/ my bro for the Steelers...only to watch them go to hell in a hand basket. But I'm a die hard fan, they still rock.
7. Keeping my side business growing and making dinero w/ it. Always nice to have something you've done yourself and see it succeed.
8. Keeping my cool after being rammed by a drunk mini-van driver. Very proud of myself for not having my standard fit of road rage. I'm a suburbanite...my SUV had a slightly damaged bumper and his car was crushed, so I did get the last laugh.
9. Making it thru another great year w/ the wife and...
10. Any time spent w/my little girl is tops in my book.
Good luck in '07.

Our hurt kicker and desperate attempt to land ladies
I cannot resist our kicker's cell phone "issues," they are so moronic and hilarious!! Take a look at this quality piece of cell photography of Mr. Reed.
Dude, if you strike out, go to another bar and look for a big-haired yinzer or go home...PLEASE don't send desperate shots to women showing a non-athletic body and the top of your junk. It's in very poor taste to say the least and you KNOW we'll get a hold of it to share!
Nice shaving job....hahahahahaha.

A Bittersweet Christmas
Welcome to the new blog...I've scrapped an old one that celebrated more of my freedoms and fake golf career, etc. There's been a new chapter open for the last 4 years especially, having a wonderful daughter will do that. And her mom's not bad either! The time to shed the old, slightly after-college blog has come and this is the new. Enjoy. I will live my college-age 20's memories out thru Julie_Gong and others, they are great writers!
The title "A Bittersweet Christmas" is very indicative of the Christmas I had. While watching my daughter open up all her latest gifts in whirlwind-like fashion (and yes, Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake and the gang our back), our family dog of almost 10 years, Hannah, had to be put to sleep Christmas Eve. I had the cell phone in my hand all day at the crappy Steelers performance and on the way to the lake house, waiting for the call on how the surgery was going. It was a sudden illness that crept up on Friday, the 22nd, but had been awhile in coming as it turns out. It was a sad decision to make, for sure. One will never understand if they haven't had pets. We do feel a hole in our hearts right now. We waited until after the holiday to explain to the "Bratz girl" what had happened. She did seem to understand and was sad but at ease. Funny how kids can be like that...
Thanks for listening. See the attached, Hannah was a wonderful lab!
